AEW Dynamite Results (6/22/22): Jon Moxley, Hiroshi Tanahashi, More

The June 22 episode of AEW Dynamite was an eventful show.

In the main event, Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi faced Chris Jericho and Lance Archer. Plus, Malakai Black battled Penta Oscuro in an All-Atlantic Championship Qualifying Match. Elsewhere on the show, Bryan Danielson addressed his status for Forbidden Door, fans heared from Christian Cage, and Toni Storm took on Marina Shafir.

The results are as follows:

In-Ring Segment: Bryan Danielson

Danielson comes to the ring to address Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts. He says this week is a great week to be an AEW fan and a wrestling fan. He brings up Forbidden Door and says it will be hosted by the two best wrestling companies in the world. He then brings up Blood & Guts and calls it a bloody spectacle. Danielson says he’s excited for the violence.

He then says he was expecting to be a part of both events. He reveals that Chris Jericho paid Zack Sabre Jr. to face Danielson in a match, hoping to prove that he was the best wrestler in the world. Danielson says he was excited to get revenge at Blood & Guts, but he has good news and bad news.

The bad news is that, due to the injuries he suffered at Anarchy at the Arena, he’s not cleared to compete at Forbidden Door or Blood & Guts. He says he’ll be back, as he’s suffered plenty of injuries before. Danielson says the good news is that Eddie Kingston has called him a judgmental prick, and he’s right; because he is, he has really high standards, so when he promises that something is going to be amazing, it will be.

Danielson says he found the one person he trusts to take his place at Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts, and everyone will be astounded by what he does in AEW. He says he won’t reveal their identity yet, so fans will find out on Sunday. He calls himself the best technical wrestler in the world, and Sabre Jr. confronts him.

In a promo, Jon Moxley discusses his feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society and previews Blood & Guts. He also talks about his clash with Hiroshi Tanahashi and says it may be busines tonight, but it’ll be personal on Sunday.

Orange Cassidy and Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero) vs. Will Ospreay and Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher)

Romero starts the bout with Mark Davis and tags in Trent. Roppongi Vice double-teams him. Davis gains the upper hand, but Trent fires up and tags Cassidy. “Freshly Squeezed’ dropkicks him, and Roppongi Vice gangs up on him. Cassidy and Romero dive to the outside, but they get caught and slammed as United Empire takes control. Ospreay drops Beretta with a back-breaker and grounds him. The trio isolates him and controls the match.

Beretta rallies and suplexes Fletcher. Cassidy tags in and kicks Aussie Open as only he can. He drops Fletcher with a hurricanrana and stares down Ospreay, his opponent at Forbidden Door. Romero takes down Ospreay with a hurricanrana.

Romero, Cassidy, and Beretta dive onto their opponents. Romero hits a diving kick on Ospreay, and Cassidy gets a two count with a splash. Cassidy hits the Stun-dog Millionaire. Romero tags in and squares off with Davis. Aussie Open double-teams him, but he rallies. The match breaks down into chaos as bodies are flying. Roppongi Vice drops Fletcher with a knee strike. Ospreay breaks up a Strong Zero attempt. Romero dives onto Ospreay, and Beretta plants Davis with a DDT. Cassidy nails the Orange Punch on Fletcher for the win.

Winners: Roppongi Vice and Orange Cassidy

Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan come to ringside to check on their stablemates. United Empire moves to attack, but FTR comes down to even the odds.

Backstage, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, and Sonjay Dutt discuss their recent success. Lethal says he wants to win the ROH World Television Championship, but to do that, Samoa Joe needs to come back to work. He tells Joe he can either defend the title or vacate it.
