Glastonbury Festival will open its gates for the first time in three years next week, and with a threatened train strike, more festivalgoers are expected to make the journey to the site by car.

Campers who choose to drive to the area are likely to face a lot of traffic, so it’s well worth planning ahead and making sure you know exactly where you need to go.

But once you get to Glasto, you’ll need a safe spot to park your car – and parking spaces are like goldust. That is, of course, unless you’ve registered for a parking spot ahead of arrival.

With the deadline to bag one of Glastonbury’s official parking spaces being today, we’ve put together some helpful tips to help you get organised before you set up camp for five days.

Where is Glastonbury Festival held and what is the postcode?

Glastonbury Festival is held at Worthy Farm which is in Pilton, Somerset.

There is not an exact postcode that you can use to get to the Glastonbury site, but organisers have provided a couple of different postcodes to help you get to a location where you can then follow signage to the festival location.

Drivers travelling on the A303 and A37 are advised to use the postcode TA11 7DP.

Drivers from Wales using the A39, or from the North West using the A361 are advised to enter BA6 9XE into their sat nav, while travellers from Swindon or local traffic on the A361 are advised to use BA4 4LY.

Once you reach the destination of any of those postcodes, you should seen signs directing you to the festival site and you should follow them to find your way to the car park.

With the rail strikes set to majorly disrupt travel throughout the festival period, those opting for their car instead will need to plan ahead.

The most sensible option to guarantee you a parking space is to pay £50 on Glastonbury’s seetickets page – but you’d better be quick as you only have until today, Wednesday 15 June, to secure your place.

If you miss the deadline, you’ll still get the chance to nab a spot by paying £50 on the gate on arrival – but it will be first-some, first-served.

Organisers urge festivalgoers to make sure they arrive on the right side of where your allocated car park is too (East or West), to avoid longer queuing times.

The car parks open from 9pm on Tuesday 21 June so that drivers are able to arrive at night when there is less traffic, but the gates to the festival won’t open until 8am on Wednesday.

Drivers will need to follow the P signs to find their nearest parking spaces, and you don’t have much choice in where in the car park you will be placed. (Make sure you take note of the route colour and car park numbers so you don’t end up scouring the car parks for your vehicle when it comes to home time!)

The festival licence granted to the farm runs out at 5pm on Monday, so organisers have asked people to have cleared the car parks by then, or they risk getting a slap on the wrist from the authorities.

What is the Glastonbury site map?

Glastonbury Festival takes places on a huge site at Worthy Farm, with a whopping 203,000 people attending the last event in 2019.

Currently it is allowed a maximum capacity of 210,000, which could happen at some time in the future as the number of attendees continues to grow.

The grounds include various important areas including the main stages, as well as campsites, toilets, cash machines, water kiosks, bars and medical tents.
