Kim Kardashian Goes Off on Kanye West in ‘The Kardashians’ Season Premiere

It isn’t hard to guess how Kim Kardashian must have been feeling when her ex-husband Kanye West was taking their private matters public on his social media back in 2022. But on the season three premiere of The Kardashians on May 24, she went further in calling out her ex than I ever remember her doing before. In confessionals and in an emotional conversation with Kris Jenner, Kardashian called Ye out for his erratic and damaging social media posts, for publicly shaming her, and even accused him of starting the rumor she’d had an affair with Drake. 

In one scene Kardashian tells her mom, “He has made up the most insane narrative about you and [my sex tape] and we stay silent. We stay silent through all the lies and all the stuff.” And says in a confessional, “I think at this point, I just assume everything I text Kanye is going to be on the internet.”

Kardashian opened up about how Ye’s accusations have affected her personally, but also noted she’s proud of her response for her kids’ sake. “All of his shenanigans—I don’t even know what the fuck to call it—is going to be far more damaging to the kids one day than my tape will ever be. And I have to sit here and not say anything ever because I know one day my kids will appreciate that and I know that, like, is the best thing for that,” she says. And Kardashian says the issues didn’t just start after the divorce. She later adds, “He is the one that is hurting me the most. He was the one that started a rumor that said I was hooking up with Drake, having an affair. Our full marriage, he accused me of that publicly.”

Back in 2018, Ye responded to the rumor that his then wife Kim Kardashian and Drake had an affair. On Instagram, per Rolling Stone, the rapper posted four videos refuting the rumors and calling out Drake for his response. “The fact that it’s people making rumors or thinking that you fucked my wife and you not saying nothing and you carrying it like that. That don’t sit well with my spirit,” Ye said at the time.
